Matter
The Fundamental Substance
Matter, both in scientific and alchemical realms, embodies the fundamental substance that occupies space and possesses mass. In scientific terms, it is composed of atoms and molecules, participating in dynamic interactions governed by the laws of physics.
In the Web of Planets and Elements, Matter is the region between water and ground. Matter is energy in its most minimally reactive form. It occupies the lowest energy state and has minimal heat and entropy.
In Alchemy, Matter represents the canvas upon which transformative processes unfold, symbolizing the potential for transmutation and the pursuit of unlocking hidden properties through exploration of the laws of the universe. The planets that occupy the energy state of Matter during the day are the Moon and Uranus and at night; Venus, Mars and Saturn.
Planetary Syntheses
The synthesis of Matter with Spirit yields the planet Saturn.
The synthesis of Matter with Essence can yield the Moon, Venus, Mars, Uranus and Pluto.
Matter Parameter Effects
High Matter suggests increased density, materialization, physical manifestation potential. Good periods for concrete achievements, building, or working with physical substances.
Low Matter indicates less material density, more ethereal conditions. Better for planning, designing, or working with subtle aspects rather than dense physical matter.
